Mental Health Services

  • Anxiety

Maybe you are a worrier, with spiraling thoughts that keep you awake at night. Or maybe you have physical symptoms, such as a racing heart, upset stomach, headaches, muscle tension, or even panic attacks. You could be dealing with intense fear of something in particular that keeps you from doing things that you enjoy, or even have difficulty leaving the home. Regardless of your presentation, I have extensive training in treating anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. I am also trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP) to treat obsessive compulsive disorder.

  • Depression

Often comorbid with anxiety, signs of depression include consistently low mood, difficulty enjoying your normal activities, low motivation, fatigue, appetite changes, trouble concentrating, and thoughts of suicide. Many people with depression have low self-esteem, blaming themselves for all of their problems and constantly ruminating on personal flaws or past mistakes. Depression is one of the most painful and debilitating mental health conditions and can occur spontaneously or as a result of a stressor or life transition. Working with me, we will take small steps to get you back to the life you once enjoyed - or if you have always been depressed, figure out a workable “baseline” to improve your quality of life.

  • Trauma and Related Disorders

Contrary to popular belief, trauma-related symptoms and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are not just constricted to veterans who have served in the military. I have experience treating individuals with trauma from sexual assault, car accidents, physical or emotional abuse or neglect, domestic violence, or medical trauma. I also acknowledge the role of so-called “Little t” traumas that many of us have experienced - such as an invalidating caregiver growing up, an unsupportive work environment, divorce or separation, social isolation, and difficult life transitions. I am trained in structured therapies for trauma, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Attachment, Regulation, and Competency Therapy (ARC).

  • Other Problems and Disorders

I also have experience working with individuals with bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, disordered eating, substance abuse, and psychosis. Individuals with these issues may or may not be a good fit for my practice depending on the nature and severity of the problem. If you are afflicted by these issues and/or another mental health concern not mentioned here, please feel free to reach out for a free consult. I can let you know whether I would be able to work with you or if you would be served by another therapist or helping professional (e.g., psychiatrist).
